Things that made it stand out;

Rebecka Liljeberg's screen presence. Mmm...mesmeric! Reminded me of Lina Leandersson in LTROI, in its effortless power to hold your attention and belief. She's very beautiful, too, which doesn't hurt a bit.

The realism and accuracy of the whole thing, as already noted in this thread. I'm sure alienated, bored teenagers all over the world must still be going YESSS!! when they come across it. Good, tight script.

The complete absence of prurience and Hollywoodenness. It's about love; OK it's gay love, but so what? Love is love. It's not a porn movie, they didn't go for any cheap shot. I really respect that.

I have to get an avi or DVD though, watching it on lo-res YouTube is a bit of a travesty. I must have missed about 60% of the non-verbal performances.

I think FA was actually way ahead of it’s time. Does this description remind you of anyone?

“Fjortis” originally comes from the Swedish word “fjortonåring” which means ‘fourteen year old’. It was used to describe the adolescent behavior of teenagers (tonåringar) a couple of decades ago and the term then progressed to a word which you would tease somebody with. Nowadays it has become something different; the English equivalent of the word would be an air head. A “Fjortis” is an airhead who has blonde hair, big breasts and is always thinking about being really thin. They are also stupid and have a shallow personality.

Awful, to think, stereotyping and bullying are still omniprescent in Swedish schools. All Swedish young people should be made to watch FA on a continual loop until they cry. If they blink, then they should be placed in isolation and made to read my poetry until their eyes bleed.
