I'm currently making english subtitles for the TV-movie Närkontakt with Rebecka Liljeberg

I recently got an editing program that makes it fairly easy to do so.

I'm also translating it myself as I go along, although there were some translation for this film on the net before.

Unfortunately the video material is rather poor as you know, but it's all we have at the moment.

Still I'm sure you'll love seeing the film with subs though, and Rebecka is really great in this one.

I think I'll upload the film to a hosting site this time too, this file will be much smaller than She's Blonde Like Me, and won't take such a long time to download.

If you want I could also upload to a video site?

If I remember correctly, thanks to this wonderful short film, Bex landed the part in FÅ. Therefor it must be my favorit short film!

I look forward to seeing the results; I liked this little film a lot. That diving scene really impressed me - it must have been bloody freezing, and rather dangerous, too Tough kid!

But it's more of a word for word exact translation of the dialogue.

I prefer to translate a little bit more freely, to make it flow better.

I also have to make it somewhat simpler to fit it all in on the screen, otherwise it would be too much text.

This is something even professional translaters have to do with movies

Sadly, for some [many? most?] people, any amount of text is too much...but I do take your point; it's a question of finding the right balance.

It's more of a technical question in this case re the amount of text.

You have to time the lines to the spoken dialogue, and keep them long enough so the audience can read.

If it's too much text then it just won't fit the moving pictures and audio.

Yeah, I've noticed that the .srt files define the screentime right down to the frame...

I did think about trying to add subs to the Luuk 98 interview once, and downloaded a sub program. Couldn't make head nor tail of it and gave up after 4 hours with a migraine.

This subtitles only is a traduction of script. Don't see it in a movie.
It need to edit in a document with every phrase his time.
I'll try to do it
