Shouldn't there be a third option that says, "I want to go home now" ...?

Being a sole parent I identify with Birgitta more than Karin but she didn't seem to me to be the "hugging" kind.
And Karin got to hug Bex, so I'm voting for her.

Birgitta, I'd say. Karin, while she had reasons for doing what she did, came across as a bit too unsympathetic for me.

Neither wins Mother of the Year, but I think Birgitta would take the whole Agnes and Elin thing a liitle better than Karin. "That's nice, girls. Just don't burn the house down. Can I go back to sleep now? Nice to meet you, um, Alice. Zzzzzzzzzz..."

my vote go to Brigitta, because she was more lax
From Karin goes scary fear and she was more so stricter

She was well-meaning, I think, but a bit blinkered and pushy.

Hermes description is spot on.
I'll go with Karin, she's indeed a bit pushy, but I do belive she would come around, and accept her daughter's choice eventually. Maybe with a little help from Olaf.

I don't think Karin was unsympathetic at all Ian maybe ignorant, she clearly worries for her daughter like most parents but really probably hasn't had a sit down with her daughter to discuss whats going on in her life. She messes up by reading her daughters journal, but if you are a parent I'm sure we all seen it with our own, they are only human after all. I think Karin was Miss popular at school, she's doing everything she did when she was a teen for her daughter thinking she's the same (you can sense that maybe unlike the Father she doesn't quite talk to her daughter too much). so I say ignorant, unsympathetic sounds more to me like she disowns her daughter or ignores her which I don't see personally.

I don't like any them.
Karin is hypocritical and she never would change her brain , I've known people like that.
In time they say to have changed, but only don't talk.
Brigitta is exactly what hate Elin.
I think that them there are in the film like a another reason which represents the film: exit of this "fucking" village and the outdated and old people.
