Probably only about 5 or 6 years ago.
I was relatively late in discovering Fucking Åmål but I've probably made up for it a bit by having watched it more than anyone else in the universe.

You was relatively late in discovering Fucking Åmål?
And I? LOL!!!

I am always late in discovering any film because I can't cinema because I have pain head.
I must to see in my house.
I use P2P. and many films are from TV, more late than cinema.

I usually buy the DVD when I get the chance.
The only problem is that so many European films are very difficult to find.

There are a couple of "foreign language" channels on TV in Australia so I have a chance every now and then to record something I want.

I wanted to see it the moment I heard about it; I can still remember seeing an article on it in The Australian around Christmas 2000. Alas it wasn't on in a cinema near me so I had to wait till about October 2001, when it came out to rent. Loved it, of course. You couldn't buy it so I - er - bootlegged it   - until the DVD finally came out sometime in the mid 00s. The 3rd time I saw it, early 2008, was enough to get me to this place. :D

In Spain the film arrived in 1999, but in the cine in the 2001.

I'm from Barcelona, but year 2000 I knew a girl from Pamplona and gone to live there. Pamplona is the capital of Opus Dei in Spain,
and here no news about these things, but the film was in 2001.
If I should been in Barcelona, I supose has seen it.

When I first watched FÅ I thought that was Alex (Elin) sitting there.
She's very pretty.

One of my many, many favourite scenes.

Her facial expressions were always her strong point in FA. That's what stood out for me straight away about her performance. I think the best scene to explain this would be, the scene when Elin and her sister vist Agnes at her Birthday, that whole scene up to the point she tries to cut her wrist with the razor, is probably the best acted scene in the film. That's why I always find it a shame, she was never that interested in been an actress as I thought if she could find the right roles she could have been a top actress. I love Alex in FA but Rebecka was always the one I expected to be the break out star.

Still one of the best feel good endings to a film ever, along with Moodysson's next film Together and his newer film We are the Best. No one does a better happy ending then Moodysson.
