Åmål Municipality just the other day released a schedule and some information on their oncoming “Fucking Åmål-veckan” - a chain of events celebrating the 20th anniversary all taking place in Åmål between 23-27 October. Pretty much all info on what they were planning was hidden before.

Some spokesperson stated last year that the ambitions on what to do with this were quite high; as an example they wanted to invite Lukas Moodysson and Alexandra Dahlström over to make a public appearance. I was skeptical about that in particular as Åmål is a pretty distant place to travel to, and Lukas have at least been invited to visit once before but turned down that offer. I can see now that they probably didn't succeed on that part, but there are still some interesting things going on. This includes multiple screenings of the film at the town's local cinema, a presentation about the film's initial premiere, some live performers doing covers of the FÅ soundtrack and a FÅ trivia quiz.

I'll be booking a hotel in Åmål very soon so that I can attend pretty much everything, that is to say if nothing else gets announced right away like Rebecka and Alexandra showing up on some anniversary event in Stockholm - which I suspected possibly could happen before - but yeah now it's getting kind of late for such an announcement.

I didn't think Lukas would attend but I had a feeling that Alex might if she was available.

She could still show up for all I know, and I'm hopeful at least. :-) However I have a feeling that if they knew for certain that she'd come they'd have to mention that by now as this in itself surely would attract more people to the events.

Åmål disappointed me, they told me in Trollhattan. There's nothing in the movie, they have not tried either. Now 20 years later ...

Not a single scene was actually shot in Åmål so the town itself isn't that interesting for a FÅ fan as there aren't any film locations to spot. The tourist bureau used to sell these Fucking Åmål t-shirt with the film's logo on some years ago. I'll have to take a look at that.

I'll visit Trollhättan eventually, hopefully while that building at Drottningtorget still stands.

I am actually going there. I will arrive on 23rd and leave on 25th. There are two hotels in Åmål: Stadshotell and Dalhall - I am staying at the latter.

There is going to be a "re-premiere" of the film at Saga Bio, with red carpet and all so that's the main thing I'm attending.

I have not written to this forum before for some reason. If anyone else of you is going to Åmål for this event, it would be great to have a meetup on 24th for example!

I am from Finland and know Swedish as well but I'm not really fluent in it.
