Yeah, why not? They're re-releasing Terminator 2 in 3D in cinemas for a limited run this year, and I think they did the same (albeit only in the US) with the original Ghostbusters a couple of years back. Why not? It allows newcomers and hardcore fans to see these classic movies on the big screen again. Can't be a bad thing.

I'd love it if there was news about a new dvd (blu ray as well) and extras and all that stuff, but sadly I haven't seen a thing yet.

I would like to send an email to someone (cinemateket, lukas, ...) saying that the digitizing of the film is very good and will give them money, but that would also be very good to show the cut scenes for those like us (Ian and fish ) We have been keeping this movie alive all these years, and it will also give you money.
