Case Study Exam on Show Me Love!

Postby Pikadam2000 » Tue Jun 02, 2009 10:00 pm

Hey,
I'm doing a media course in college, and I've got an exam coming up in two weeks. My tutor has told me that the case study film will be Show Me Love, so I should look into it as much as possible.
Can anyone suggest a website, book or article that studies this film closely? Anything at all would be greatly appreciated :)
Oh, also - please don't say Google, because that led me here. :D I figured the best place to find out more about useful resources would be a forum dedicated to it...

I must say though, shrinking violet though I am  I don't entirely approve of SML/FA being set as a topic on which you are to be ''examined''. In one way this a means hammering a nail in its coffin.

A major part of its attraction is that it was a ''counter-culture'' thang, low budget, shot on 16mil, radical new director, touchy subject, first feature, etc.

Adrian Mitchell published his poetry with a clause in the contract that his work was not to be used EVER as set text in the examinations system.

I hope you can strike a happy balance, study the film for the purpose of jumping through exam hoops, but hope you will learn to love as we have, as a statement of something that MEANS something to you personally on whatever level you wish to meet it. :)

Don't worry - in every other subject I've studied I've approached it with hesitance, but grown to love it in the end :D I started out hating Godard and the French New Wave, hating Lars Von Trier and Dogme 95... And I loved Show Me Love the first time I saw it in class anyway :)
I try to make sure my answers and discussions are brought from a genuine understanding and immersion, and not revised notes or hollow, standard facts.

Hahah - off I waffle again

Please feel free to waffle on here anytime. I'm the resident maple syrup  I would love to know what your class makes of SML/FA. Pls report back to us sometime. :)

Having recently seen the "school uniform spanking" scene in Sugar Rush I just had this image flash before my eyes of a red headed teacher wielding a riding crop and enforcing dicipline.
