Quite interesting! Makes you realize (once more) that being a child or teen acting sensation and not going on to have a career in the movies as an adult is the rule, not the exception, unfortunately. There's ten Rebeckas (and probably ten Alexandras) for every Portman or Watson.

I guess it's understandable in a way; I mean, just because you like (or fall into) something as a kid does not mean you're going to want to do it for the rest of your life. Even Emma Watson said that she wavered for a while after finishing Potter; she wasn't sure if she wanted to do it, if making other movies would be the same, or if she was even capable of playing other roles. We can thank Perks of Being a Wallflower and director Stephen Chbowsky for getting her to decide in the affirmative.
Clearly Rebecka made the opposite decision (and seems to have made it pretty early on too).

A great site thanks for posting it Santi, in Sweden it seems many young stars have that one film and after that struggle to get roles as strong since. Reading up on Alex's profile, it kind of comes off if you aren't a die hard fan of her work (like many of us are ) that after Fucking Amal her career was pretty much done as a actress. But if we're honest its not far from the truth, She's a working actress but I expected more from it, even in Sweden I say some of her films after Amal are hard to get. But she's not the only young actress/actor from Sweden it seems it's happened too. If Fucking Amal was made in America and Alex was American, I have no doubts she would have gone on to do top work (look at some the best young actresses from the last 10 years, a small indie film that leads to great commercial roles).

I didn't know she was working as a lecturer, I thought it was only a side job along with her DJ work, something that pays the bills.

I guess in terms of global market share Sweden is a very small player, and like all those in similar countries the greatest opportunity for actors lies in the giant markets like India, China and the U.S.A. By sheer volume alone they tend to dominate the world film industry and anyone who chooses for whatever reason not to join in, is likely to have a relatively minor career.
I suspect after Fucking Åmål the 14 year old Alexandra was simply too young to travel across the globe to become part of such an uncertain future.

In my personal opinion she should be celebrated for what she has achieved in the smaller market.
