In Bed With Santa

Postby Ian » Mon Mar 10, 2008 3:31 am

Just bought this off ebay, really just because Alex is in it!

Anyone seen it?

Man, I am like TOTALLY obsessed with SML to be doing this! :D

Its been shown on tv four times here in Sweden. It's a Christmas classic.
It's really funny and very chaotic :D
Alexandra plays Jeanette, a blackhaired 'punkrock' girl.
It's directed by Kjell Sundvall, and he once said that Fucking Åmål is
"art by accident"

Original title Tomten är far till alla barnen which means Santa is the father of all the children.

Of course it's a matter of taste, but I don't like this film at all, I think it's just stupid and unfunny.

And Alexandra has a really small part, she's only in the film for a few minutes total.

Is it english dubbed also?

I hope you didn't pay a lot of money for it?

?

That's disappointing. Are there any other movies she's in with a larger role?

Yes, it's called "Miss Sweden" or "Fröken Sverige" in swedish, and it's really bad actually. Yet i've whatched it like five times
and thats because Alex plays the leading character.
The movie is incoherent and the plot is uninteresting, it's a love story but its sure no Fucking Åmål.

I've seen it too (in Swedish, which was hard to figure out for me  ). The film is mediocre, but Alex's acting is fabulous, don't you think?

Which makes the case 100% parallel to that of Rebecka Liljeberg, by the way: wonderful actress who does her best wasted to a stupid script. And ten years after the triumphant debut, we are still waiting for a second hit worthy of her abilities.

I'd rather be happy now than in 25 years, for heaven's sake!

it's a love story but its sure no Fucking Åmål.

Yeah, but then... what could be? :N

Yeah, it does seem to be, doesn't it? Not quite sure why on 3rd viewing (though I loved it the first two times too, and can remember being haunted by it for several weeks after the first viewing in particular) but this time it really does seem to have created an obsessive for life! :D

Will have a look out for Miss Sweden. Been downloading some of that Dutch soap Alexandra did. Can't understand a word of it, but she's very cute in it!

Yeah, but it was exactly the same with me: First two viewings (the second just two or three weeks after the first): a lot of bliss but no obsession. Third viewing, more or less exactly five years later: BANG! :T

Haha, same with me, loved the film back in 1999, but not the obsession I'm feeling now all these years later, I guess the time was right now for some reason :)

And funny thing about the title for Alexandra's film, it's obviously inspired by her lines as Elin in FÅ

"Alltså, jag är så jävla snygg! Jag ska bli fröken Sverige"

Elin also wanted to be a big movie star

I hope Alexandra does well in the movie-business :)

Well, that's good to know. Nothing like shared weirdness. :D

Yeah, I noticed the "Miss Sweden" connection too! Very amusing.

On the subject, anyone see that Truth or Dare film?

I hope Alex does well, too. Would be good to be able to follow her career.

Yes, I did. Nice one, but it's really a film for kids. It's about tolerance, withstanding peer pressure, and being true to your friends even if they are unpopular. (Sounds familiar, I know, but this one is aimed at 10-15 year olds.) Still, interesting to watch, as Alexandra is the bad guy here!

Cool. Another one I'll have to keep an eye out for.

I must admit, there's something about Alexandra that's growing on me. Especially nowadays, you kind of get the impression that she's a lot quirkier than you might think on initiail impression.

And I like quirky,
