Froken Sverige

Since I'm finally going to get to see this soon (thanks Magnus! ), thought I'd start a thread to see what everyone thinks of it, or indeed, if any of you've even seen it!

So, what do you reckon to it, then? (And yes, I know it won't be as good as FA. Nothing is, so don't even go there! :P )

Not bad but not great either

Alexandra is wonderful, and just like FÅ it has a lot of pop songs playing in the background, which is nice

But the movie never even comes close to the emotional impact of FÅ

It's really fun they made a film with the title Fröken Sverige, since this is what Elin says in FÅ that she'll become one day :)

Probably deliberate, wouldn't you say?

Looking forward to it, anyway! It's a 'new' Alex film, why wouldn't I be?! :D

Saw Froken Sverige last night.

Yeah, not bad. Liked the second half better than the first, when she started standing up for herself. What a bunch of extraordinarily objectionable secondary characters, though. Ugh. Not great - I probably wouldn't have kept watching if it wasn't for who was in the lead role  - but not bad in the end. Alex was good. As Dave said about Bear's Kiss - though in the reverse - you just want Agnes to burst into the movie from somewhere and get her the hell away from there!
No FA by a long way, of course.

Still, better than In Bed With Santa, anyway!

 Great. Exactly what happened when I bought my FA copy back then.... it came up two weeks later. (Still, thumbs up for your TV! In Germany we haven't seen nothing of it yet!)

I've seen the film today, a lot of time after purchasing it. Not a masterpiece but fun, really good. Alexandra Dahlstrom didn't look exactly good here (a somewhat plain hairdo, acne on her face) but I think her character called for this. There's a lot of good, mostly easy listening music.

The story is very simple but has a point in common with FA, the search for the real "self" and learning to stand up for oneself. Interesting the way this film points at the hypocrisy and tiredness of some extreme leftist stereotypes: it should play on italian TV on prime time. Well, thinking about the man who has control of all TV here, this could really happen :)

I don't know if the director wanted to relate the lack of self esteem in Moa (at the beginning) to the do-gooders parents, a couple who fosters a lot of children and cares about other people's problems, but I observed the same thing happening in families where parents imposed a strictly selfless way of life.
I liked Leo Hallerstam (the "trouble boy" Jens) performance more than everthing else.

It was watchable enough, and Alex was good. :D I preferred both Sherdil and Bear's Kiss, though, personally.

I'm hoping I'll like Manana more (if we ever get to see it, of course  )
