New fanfic by Nemo_Me

Postby sydney » Sun Feb 12, 2006 4:33 pm

Nemo_Me has sent me an unfinished story, she wants to share with all fans of Fucking Åmål. I named it After the O'Boy, but maybe Nemo_Me thinks of a better title. You can read the fanfic here.

There are shortcuts on the fan stuff page and on the download page.

Hej nemo_me, let me tell you that I like your piece of work very much and that I would really love to see you continue it. I think I have read every piece of fan fiction on Fucking Åmål that was ever published on the net (plus one more which its author showed to me but didn’t want to publish [no, I didn’t write it myself! ]), and yours is among those I found remarkable. I hope it'll come to be more than this first part!
I think there are three reasons why I like it: The first ist that you rely on what is happening between the characters, that you concentrate on the dialogue. Some other fanfic sequels dive too much into „action“ - wild, melodramatic things happen that don’t fit at all into the ordinariness of Åmål. The second reason is that your dialogue captures the characters very well. It’s important to imagine something new for them, but at the same time, they must be the same, we must be able recognize them as the persons we know. And you really had some beautiful ideas concerning this: For example, the idea that Agnes should leave to take Oscar home from school strikes me as completely true – this is just what Agnes would do. And your best idea – to my mind – is how you treat Jessica: Great! This is just how she would react, completely natural. Third reason: A nice way to connect what is new with what is old, e.g., the beautiful talk about Agnes’s poem. This is also very important to create the right kind of feeling (this is what Peter Svensson’s legendary sequel is so very strong at). Of course there are always minor points which I think could be improved, but that doesn’t matter: Keep going!

I completely agree with you Kant. The story is very well written. Fortunately we do not have to wait long for the second part. This part begins somewhere in the middle of the page, marked by "Second part". It has a really great cliffhanger.

Well, today was the time. Nemo_Me delivered the third part and you can read it now in the fun stuff section. Because of her holiday it took a bit longer than the previous parts.

Great, Nemo! I still read it with pleasure. Go on, I'm sure more people than you'd imagine are waiting for more.
