Changes

Postby oeb » Fri May 19, 2006 1:18 am

I'm currently doing some of the announced changes to the forum to make it go better along with the website and hopefully feel more up-to-date. I'll still be moving around some forums and I'll also move some posts. I hope you like it - and I haven't forgotten the chat either ;).

We should split up...
We have a lot more forums than regular users now.

This is of course a a work-in-progress. If a forum is not used for a long time, it will be removed. I will start to include links to the forums on the website. My goal is of course to bring in some of the regular website visitors aswell. As you might have noticed the forum is "shared" with nordicdvd.net aswell. I don't think there are enough visitors on that site to have a seperate forum. Lukas Moodysson's films will of course still stay in focus - if it starts to drift out too much I will split it in two.

I agree with Kolya that it is a bit confusing now - the old thing was cosier. I think it's a very good idea to have separate sections for different Moodysson films. However, dividing the other stuff into different sections for Hollywood cinema, world cinema, different kinds of bands and so on could be a bit too much. I assume that it could get quite lonely in the Vanilla Ninja forum, for example...
However, every move suited to bring in more people here should definitely be tried. So go ahead, Ole, and let's wait and see how it works out!

I'm doing my best to try to promote them! Hehe. And considering that they are from Estonia where Lilja 4-ever was shot it's not too far-out either ;).

The "off topic" section in the old forum was very broad, so I thought it was a good idea to make more dedicated forums (it will also come in handy when linking up to the forum from the website). I might also suggest interesting films in the international forums.

the old one is much much better
not so overloaded
always to search for the subforums i like is annoying
and it seems that others think the same...not much activity in the forum

This is much better now... as for the current lack in activity, I think that's normal. Time and again, there are weeks where nothing much is happening because there's not much to talk about. At some point, this will usually be changed because someone appears who has so many ideas that they somehow manage to post like 200 messages in ten weeks and everybody else comes back and gets active too. But nobody can keep up this amazing level of intensity...

could you perhaps move the "Off topic" part up?
so that its on the first page and nobody has to scroll for it
before the change it was much more crowed and now its kinda empty and i think its because of that one has to scroll to it now
