Hi snaps, and welcome! I am very happy to see someone here who contributes some written stuff to the Fucking Åmål universe (as much as I like the music videos and stuff). I like your poem! - especially the beginning (the last verse seems a bit superfluous to me, but maybe that's because I am not familiar with the Ginger Snaps movies... ) Continue!

It's unbelievable that still after 12 years people want to make tributes to this movie. Really awesome. Keep up the good work. I am retired as it comes to actively promoting Fucking Åmål, but I still wander around the fora to search for awesome stuff, like you produced right now.

I think I will put my scratchy DVD of FÅ once more in the DVD player tonight. ;)

So, snaps, the first one - honestly: It isn't my cup of tea (funny, yes, but really more a piece of poésie concrète than fiction). The second one - equally honestly: I completely love it! Saying so much with so little is a beautiful accomplishment.

Eh, sorry, but I really don't like fan-fiction that breaks the two of them up. Don't see the appeal of that at all. No offence.

You have a rare talent for the poetic Snaps. Loved it.

Let me just rephrase that then....
Sam and you both have a rare talent for the poetic.
Well done.

Hope you don't get in too much trouble for commandeering its use.

snaps wrote:To be fair I should say I wrote this with Sam. OK, then Sam wrote most of it. Sam doesn't even know I've posted it. Eeeek!

I go away for a while and see some craziness has happened but I'm glad you posted another poem snaps. It takes a lot of courage to put something you care about online for others to critique. I think this group is generally pretty supportive, way more so than most of the other places I hang out, haha.

Also don't forget that for a lot of the people here English isn't their native language so sometimes something that might seem rude isn't meant that way.

I'm not usually one for tribute videos but it might be interesting to do a mashup of one of your poems with some video from FÅ (or whatever, maybe, oh, I don't know, Ginger Snaps?! :)) and a suitable song and put it on youtube where you'd get a wider audience. For sure there you'll run into jerks but a thick skin is an essential requirement for anyone creative.

No one ever said there can't be any new fans of this film, only that it's not likely to happen

Even in it's native country FÅ isn't getting a huge amount of new fans, and still it's obviously more famous here than internationally

What are you gonna do about that?

snaps wrote:I know there are some die-hard opinions on here that would like to see SML/FA forever frozen into a point in time, e.g. there will never be a new generation of fans (and by assumption discourage new fans).

It's likely that people have built up an idea of the characters and their "future" by now that's probably hard to shake. I wouldn't let it put you off, new blood is almost always a good thing.

I've thought about this, and my opinion is *********!! to you. I think that is a betrayal of the spirit of the movie. Of course there will be contemporary films that explore the issues with greater relevance to today's younger generation.

Some of the movie may be a little anachronistic (the music?) but I didn't see it until last year and nothing really stood out as horribly dated to me.

What would be really good is if those of you who have contact with other fanfiction writers on here in the past (and there have been some very good ones) encourage them to post their work on fanfiction.net

I think most of those people have moved on, probably several years before you or I even saw the movie.

But it may just be, that from the thousands of subscribers seeing the latest tedious pastiche of Twilight (some of which are longer than the actual ******** book!) and other dross some may think *yawn* WTF is Show Me Love/ Fucking Amal ? sounds sassy, view the movie, websearch and become fans here.

If you can think of one logical argument against, don't diss me privately, post here. But examine your conscience first.

I can't think of any reason not to do it but maybe people thought you were trying to "steal" the place of the board? That's the only thing I can think of but I didn't see the original posts. There's enough room on the internets for everyone and a central location for the FÅ fanfiction where people who might also write new fanfiction go would be nice and like you said maybe get some new fans on board.
