For some reason I can't seem to see any of fish's photos tonight, anywhere on the forum. :( But I can still see mine. WTF is that, exactly?

And WTF do I keep typing WTF tonight? :T  :P

Yeah, you should try to mind your language in front of these lovely girls, you know. :P

Miss Watson looks great in that coat. Like some hardcore gangster princess.

Emma: "Jeez Ian.
I've been waiting here for ages.
I even got the drinks in.
You're not going to stand me up again are you?" :P

Why do pretty girls look so good in boys' clothes?

I don't get it... :?

If we did get it, we wouldn't spend so much time here. :( :P

Clothes do not maketh the woman, I don't think. You can put a gorgeous girl in a sack and we'd would still be falling all over her.

I have the distinct impression that the phrase 'get it' is being deliberately misconstrued here, pour l'effet comique.

Unfortunately, it's also true. I'm just not fit for human consumption these days. *:|*

Mind you I don't really care any more, either. 'Relationships' are hard work, and seem to mostly turn out to be power games of one sort or another. "It's gonna be my way, or no way"..."No. We're gonna have it all MY way, or you're getting nagged to death"...so boring.

Emma is very pretty though, especially in a suit & tie.

Gasp! Does this mean I've really been GAY all this time, doctor?

Hey, don't be sad for me...I can't help it if my attempts at humour too often get close to the bone.

A solitary old age is nothing to be proud of, I suppose, but then neither is it something to be particularly ashamed of.
Being in a relationship I hated because of fear of being alone [or of not 'getting it', or whatever] just might be, though.

Anyway enough about me, what does Emma* think about me? Or any of her, ahem, more mature admirers, come to think of it?

Actually, don't answer that. I'm not sure I really want to know...

As you were.

That's a bit cynical, even for you, don't you think?
It's true, relationships are often about sacrifices and compromises, hard work as you say.

But you shouldn't give up entirely on love, mate.

I've never given up on love, Dahls, and never will; I've just come to see Romantic Love as Nature's cruellest trick, on men and women alike. I believe that friendship is a much higher-quality expression of love than the romantic variety; and that a romantic relationship that lacks it is a breeding ground of monsters.

If I give the impression of cynicism it's a wildly inaccurate one, because despite all my tough talk you never met a soppier idealist. Were I not old, ill and rather overweight I might well seek another partner, and try to have it right this time; but I don't realistically see it as an option....also it would be rather unkind to start a love affair and then die or become an invalid on the other party, no?

A Platonic appreciation of such as Emma W, KS and PAB, that's about my speed these days [though Emma doesn't have the wonderful strangeness factor of the other two, she is awful pretty and charming].

All the best cynics are disappointed idealists. Trust me, I know.

I'm sure Emma loves us all, Dave. And even if she didn't, she'd be far too polite and kind to say otherwise.
