It's on next week.
Doctor Who - The Talons of Weng-Chiang. Sherlock Holmes, Jack the Ripper, Fu Manchu and the Phantom of the Opera collide in this wickedly sinister and wickedly funny Tom Baker classic. The Doctor & Leela arrive in Victorian London to find girls vanishing, a Chinese Tong skulking in the shadows, giant rats in the sewers and a sinister stage magician with a ventriloquist's dummy that appears to have a murderous mind of its own. Talons is one of the best - a gorgeously produced slice of comic-Gothic Victoriana, with Tom at the peak of his powers. His "savage" companion Leela, wonderfully played by Louise Jameson, is never funnier than here, pitted against the mores and manners of "civilised" Victorian London. Wonderful stuff.
