Went to a record shop today, picked up a handfull of cd's and dvd's (and one blueray).
The movies I ended up with includes:

Dancer in the dark, by von Trier
Reprise (Norwegian film,) by Joacim Trier (not related to Lars von)
Asterix in Britain (animated, mainly for visiting kids, but hey, it's fun to watch too :P)
Crazy heart
Tinker Tailor Solider Spy.

A decent capture I thought :)

Got home, realized I might have done my shopping in a bit of a hurry, instead of the new ttss version from last year, I bought the 1979 mini-series. *:|*

Well, no worries anyway, haven't seen it before and heard it's suppose to be really good, so maybe this was a "blessing in disguise".

Was determined on seeing the new film though, better luck next time I guess :T

The BBC/Alec Guinness TTSS is very highly thought of, apparently; I was still turning my nose up at the genre at the time, so I missed it.

Will check it out myself, one of these days [when it gets cheap again!].

As long as Dave is OK to just get drunk and pass out behind the sofa, fine. Merciful oblivion beckons. :P

Off ebay: Jonathan Creek season 4, plus Kindergarten Cop.

Also bought giant sized posters for Moonraker and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. *:)*

Arnie: IT'S NOT A TOOMER! :P :P

To be fair, it cost me like $7 inc postage.

I've rebought Die Hard with a Vengeance and Groundhog Day, both of which DVDs have died on me. Also picked up Bram Stoker's Dracula and Last Action Hero. All UBERcheap. *:)* :D

Ok, I might see you're point.
Arnold in lame family friendly movies is unintentionally funny.
But still :P

Have you seen Kindergarten Cop, Dahls? It's not just a silly family comedy like Twins or (shudder) Jingle All The Way, it's a pretty decent comedy-thriller. It milks the "Fish out of water" humor of the brutal cop who can stare down vicious armed hoodlums without blinking but has no idea how to handle a roomful of four year olds very well, but it doesn't shirk the thriller aspect, with a pretty dramatic climax. It's good. Well, I remember it being good, it has been a long time!

Like you, I saw it a long long time ago, at least a decade, so maybe my impression is a little off.
I'll stand back and let you off the hook then. :P
