An only too credible scenario in today's hysterical society, alas, where the p word sometimes seems to get thrown around like confetti. I agree with fish, though, doesn't sound much like fun!

You're both right of course, but then again, fun certainly wasn't the filmmakers purpose in this one. :P

Apart from being a study in mob psychology and the Outsider syndrome, maybe such a feel-bad film is also a sort of vaccination against taking part in mob hysteria; I would imagine, if you've seen a disturbing film about a small town mob going feral, you'd be at least a bit less likely to join in when it happened...?

Good point.

In small, closed enviroments like minor villages ecc, I suspect it's easy to just tag along with the irrational, and stop listening to sense. Everyone from such places should have a mandatory viewing of movies like this. :-|

See also: The Mist, the Doctor Who episode "Midnight"....

Humanity has some decidedly less flattering characteristics sometimes.

You'd really like to punch Marcia Gay Harden's character in the face sometimes during The Mist, don't you?!? :P
Brilliant acting performance though.

There's this new 1800s lovedrama/tragedy from Norway coming soon, based on the classic novel Victoria by Knut Hamsun.
Supposed to be a great epic film, praised by critcs, but I wasn't really planning to see it to be honest.

But then I came across a movie poster the other day, with this picture:

Now I don't think I have a choice! :)P

How about this french film, winning the Golden Palme at Cannes Film Festival, La vie d'Adèle (Blue is the warmest color)?

It's been named "a French Fucking Åmål" by a few tabloids here in Scandinavia, apparently about young love and the upbringing between two teenage girls.
It is said to be a more explicit, but equally beautiful, coming of age story, also twice as long.
Looks interesting, might be somewhere "up our alley".

It sounds like a very impressive film.
I look forward to seeing it in full. :Y

Me too, Fish, me too. :)

The girls seems to have very good chemistry, you can tell they have an eye for eachother.
Not so much with the girl in the second clip. :P

Maybe just the time to promote same sex relationships in France through this movie. I can't stand those right wing, narrow minded people who do not respect a democratic decision... *:|*

Go go François Hollande!!!!!! *:)* *:)* *:)* *:)* *:)* *:)*
