80s style tongue-in-cheek horror flicks seem like they're making something of a comeback... I've already mentioned A Christmas Horror Story but Deathgasm (heavy metal meets Bad Taste splatter horror) and The Final Girls (moviegoers end up inside 80s slasher movie) look like they could be a lot of fun too...

Tales of Halloween is another that looks like it might be good - another Trick R Treat style horror anthology getting good reviews.
Turbo Kid is another one I want to see - 80s-style post-apocalyptic action flick with a BMX bike, Michael Ironside as the baddy and lots of gore. Also getting really good reviews!

As time passes Cate Blanchett only seems to get more beautiful.

Her new film "Carol" with Rooney Mara is being released this weekend and the reviews are outstanding. eg. http://www.vox.com/culture/2015/11/20/9769890/carol-movie-review

"Therese Belivet (Rooney Mara) spots the beautiful, elegant Carol (Cate Blanchett) perusing the doll displays in a 1950s Manhattan department store. The two women develop a fast bond that becomes a love with complicated consequences."

Arnie's doing a new action-comedy Why We're Killing Gunther, which starts shooting next month. He plays the world's most successful assassin, but he's such an arrogant blowhard that all the other assassins hate him and decide to off him, only to find it more difficult than they might have hoped! Sounds like a hoot. I'll go see anything the big man's in. :D

You got that right, Fishy...a gorgeous movie, a true love story [and gender be damned], a serious emotional and cinematic depth, and a multiple watchability that's so rare these days.

I should have paid more attention, four years ago, but i certainly am now.

I just bought it, and it's already lent out, and I don't mind a bit.

I'm not just a pretty face you know.

It is a beautiful film isn't it?
I still watch it from time to time and I still have those same first feelings. *:)*

I don't remember ever saying you didn't have a pretty fish, Facey. :T

Yes, a very impressive showing indeed, by both women; in fact by all concerned, really...though I think an extra 20-30m would have been good, it's just a teensy bit rushed compared to the book. However, that's movies vs. books, I guess.

Here's an audiobook of the, er, audio book...

I'm even willing, now, to put up with a certain amount of Daniel Craig [ :r ] in order to see Rooney's go at Lisbeth Salander.

Well that's a fine kettle of fish you've got me into, Ollie.
