Pauline et 'Marie'

Pauline Acquart, fifteen, was brave enough
To put her half-grown body in a film;
And almost everyone who sees it knows,
'This is important'.

As skinny as a child, 'Mrs No-Boobs'
Exercised nonetheless a potent force,
Played the gamine 'Marie' so perfectly
She might have been her.

What was it, in her craft and sullen art?
The terrifying vulnerability?
The woundedness she disdained to conceal?
Was it her courage?

Her awkward shyness is still full of grace;
Her vulnerability is perfect strength,
As, nervous and embarrassed, she pursues
Someone not worth her.

To my mind, she is far more beautiful
Than golden girls that all the world desires;
And, if I knew her, know I would do much
To see her happy.

'Marie' derives the power of her spell
From Pauline Acquart's body, soul and mind,
Which she gave fully and unstintingly,
So that she lives now.

Loved it to bits Dave. :wink: *:)*

I'll post (maybe repost :T :? ) an orison of mine

NAISSANCE DES PIEUVRES (Water Lilies)

At fifteen
Lost somewhere between
Lust and love
Desire on fire
When words don’t come forth
Because the words to express
What you feel
Don’t exist

Breathe breathe
Tease tease
Ease Ease
Please please
Making sense
Out of nonsense
But aching need
Plants its seed

Eat her half-eaten apple
Chew on its bitterness
From fruit of knowledge learn
Is what your heart yearns
Drink your own tears
For salty relief
A thirst that rages
A hunger that burns

When God and Man
Condemn Woman
Nothing to believe
That gives relief
To be a slut and whore
Or
Prissy virgin sainted
Untainted

No in-between
Kiss her lipstick kiss
Planted on your window pane
Be numbed to the pain
Plunge into the pool
No fool
Be christened and reborn
New hope forlorn

Let the water take you
Make you
Feel weightless
Careless
Float on
Go with the drift
Drown in your sorrow
Today just repeats tomorrow

Most happy to please, snappho 8) *:)*

I like that of yours, too, except for the bit about being condemned by God - I refuse to believe that RC bullshit. *:|*

Wel I do sincerely applaud your work. :Y It is not easy to encapsulate and put into words. :N Sometimes that requires distance. Ima sure Pauline would be flattered by your thoughts. I have a new light in my life, and I can't even begin to string a coherent phrase, let alone poem around him. Plus it has to be in French :shock: I wish I had paid more attention. The best I can offer is Franglais. :T Je suis adore, Mais tout encore, .... errr sorta thing. :T *:|*

Lucky you! 8)

Why do they HAVE to be in French? But if they must, write in English and ask him to help with the translation... :wink:

And thanks again, your approval means a lot.

I dunno.

He's French Canadian. Speaks perfect English. It's just a pride thing really. His main language is Quebecois Francais, which is not true French but more like Swenglish = Swedish + English.

I can't even write sensible things in English :lol:

This is Google's rendering of the above effort, I wonder if someone with a decent command of French could bully it into proper Sapphic stanzas? Then I would send it to Celine and Pauline, somehow.

Actually, I bet Celine could do it, her English is very good...

Pauline Acquart, quinze ans, a été assez courageux
Pour mettre son demi-corps grandi dans un film;

Sa timidité maladroite est encore pleine de grâce;
Sa vulnérabilité est la force parfaite,
Comme, nerveux et embarrassés, elle poursuit
Quelqu'un n'est pas sa valeur.

Dans mon esprit, elle est beaucoup plus belle
Que les filles d'or que tout le monde désire;

I hope you didn't just call my sausage "pickled". :shock: :oops: :P :lol:

My conspiracy theory is that they dumped 500kgs of salt into the pool first.
Not much of a theory I know, but it's the best I've got. :roll: :T :lol:

Not that again, do not worry, I only used about a particular comparison. :roll: It's pretty easy thing. Even without the salt it is can, but you have to concentrate so that it can't get water up your nose. :lol:

A rare glimpse of the grown Acquart, this cunningly-pitched, determinedly anti-glam ad exploits her expressive capacity very well, I suppose.
