I'm listening to Live While We're Young by One Direction. I'm a rare breed. A married father, who is also a Directioner. :D

What music are you listening to?

I still haven't got over Bone Machine, and want to hear more of Mule Variations - both amazing, wild, brilliant records.

Plus he's even older than me, which is, umm, hopeful; even if he has a great track record and I have none...

I've made a VLC playlist of the banjoape girls from Youtube; the Sacred Harp collection they're largely working from is apparently what happened to the Brit, as opposed to Scottish, Irish, or Welsh, folk tradition ["it travelled wholesale to the Appalachians" - Cecil Sharp] - Alan Lomax also affirms this, and the delightful organic structures of the tunes are a welcome contrast to much of today's squared-off, 2-bar-loop machinemusik, even with the devotional lyrics - which I don't mind a bit, actually, being a bit of a God-botherer myself.

Those two, and Rain Dogs, are probably his best work, but I could say that on almost any of his albums :P .
Holiday season is approaching, at that time I always have The Heart of Saturday Night in handy. Downbeat and easy listening, perfect in the background when visitors enjoys you're wine and company  .

Never heard of Banjoape before, finding my way to youtube now, sounds interesting.
The image on the bottom of you're post doesn't show btw.

I'm listening to the Drive Soundtrack a lot and have got into a lot of 80's influenced style dance music

College
Electric Youth
Lifelike
Desire

Great stuff. If you haven't seen Drive with Ryan Gosling or heard the soundtrack. Go out now and buy it its amazing.

Ludovico Einardo - classical minimalism finally starts getting it on with sequencing and sound design.

La Mystere des Voix Bulgares - ancient Sophia female choirs, hair-raising every time

banjoape - two girls with banjos and oldtime/Sacred Harp tunes [plus]

Randy Newman - Land of Dreams - a handful of perfect quasi-autobiographical set pieces, and a masterclass in songwriting and arrangement; tantalisingly short at 33+ m

The Undertones- Their debut album and Hynopizited. Great Punk band probably known for the song "Teenage Kicks" but their first two albums are full of great songs.

Tame impala- Lonerism (great Aussie Band who sound like they are from the 60's)

Jack White-Blunderbuss

The Black Keys- El Camino (Just one of my favourite records of the last ten years)

Those Dancing Days- got into this band way to let.All girl indie Band form Sweden ,Love their soul/Cure/Pop sound and they have a awesome singer and drummer. Had some catchy singles but just never got that big break. The've split now and a few of the ex members have set up a new band called Vulkano, which is nothing like TDD.

Just got around to playing David Bowie's new comback album The Next Day.
The old man really delivered this time, much better then his previously comebacks! :D

After randomly reading a few high praised reviews of american alternative artist Julie Holter's recently released album Load City Song, I had to check out why she got so many "full scores".

I was almost suprised at how much I liked it, beautifull arranged sort of urban ambient music, much recommended if you like that sort of thing. And if it's new to you, it's the perfect introduction if you like to give it a shot. :) (I found most of it on youtube and spotify)
Reminded me a little about early Björk as well, which I haven't listened to in quite a while.

So, after that, I spent the rest of the afternoon listening to Björk. 8)

Quite like Sigur Rós on a cold winter's night, with a glass or three of mulled wine. Image

OK, so I like Lana del Rey. What about it? You wanna make something of it? She's a flake? Watch this, and then see what you think.

BTW, she has Venus 1 degree conjunct her Ascendant...

I may have done  ...but what about it? You'd probably be as dark as her, if you were an American millionaire's child...no?
