This movie is really terrible... It's clearly a porn movie. I don't understand why so many people like it. Fucking Amal makes a statement... Blue is the warmest colour was just terrible for the actors as they went through hell because of the awful director.

I had high hopes when I saw it a half year ago at a festival, but it was really disappointing...

Amazing that a film can cause such a diverse range of reactions, but I guess that's just human nature.
The scenes of intimacy were indeed a little long, but I didn't find them pornographic at all.

To me, the film was brilliant. :Y

Oh stop my god that over reaction  Blue is the Warmest Colour is a masterpiece of cinema, it's no where near porn, he could have cut it down a little with the sex scenes as it didn't need to go on that long but porn, come on don't be silly. I love Fucking Amal but Blue.. is a far more deeper and personal movie, you never seen a film that showed the highs and lows of relationships in such a true manner. You don't understand why people like it? I don't understand why you don't like it, you must not have a heart or are you Lesbian sydney cause it seems to have got bashed by the hardcore lesbian community cause they don't like to be shown to be like Straight couple, that fight and break up as well as love.

I honestly think what you said is silly and a little trite to be honest.

Well Said fish, I leave it at that cause I got really angry at Sydeny's total dismissal of this masterpiece.

Too harsh there I think.
Sydney may have a different opinion of the film to us, but he's as entitled as we are to express his views, and we should be tolerant and supportive of that right.

That's what makes this a comfortable place to write, the positive comments made by people who may not share our opinions. :Z

Nobody should get angry to anyone because of different opinions :)

And everyone should certainly go and watch it... and then compare it to Fucking Amal.
Fucking Amal is a masterpiece, certainly not Blue is the warmest Colour, which is porn *:|*

Just one remark about this... I hope that I have a heart to care about the well-being of the actresses who went through hell making this movie. You can look it up, it's no lie.

Please show your heart...

I don't think there's any real comparison to be drawn with Fucking Åmål, which is, rightly so, an icon of film making.

My judgement of "Blue" was purely and simply as a film in its own right.
I successfully avoided too much of the hype, the interviews, the opinions of others, the spoilers, etc., and assessed it on its own merits.

But, as I said, it's only my own opinion. 8)

Eventually I got the chance to see this today.
Absolutely loved it, thought it was all what it was hyped up to be and more. :)
Been quite a while, years I reckon, since a film left me so emotionally drained.

I can certainly understand though, why all views on the film is so splitted, both in here and elsewhere.
I do however feel I can easily and objectively state that the conclusion of "it's simply just porn", is way off.
Elsewise everyone is allowed their opinions of course. :Y

And about Kechiche's, the director, treatment of the actresses; yes, it was very extreme.
This isn't something new though. Kubrick used extreme methods to achieve perfection too, as well as other directors. Von Trier have many actors/actresses who swear to never work for him again, but they usually stated that in the end it was worth it.

Maybe Kechiche's treatment was even worse than the others, but although both Adele and Léa says they won't work with him ever again, they both agreed that the ends justified the means, since the result was such a masterpiece.

I admit I don't like it, but maybe if he hadn't pushed them to the breaking point, he wouldn't have got the spotless brilliant performances he eventually got.

The interview where the girls explain the hardship of making it is here btw:

It's a mean read, I must warn.

A lot of people like this movie... What I really don't understand is that almost anything is allowed to create a movie.
In Cannibal Holocaust they killed real animals in the actions scenes. Is that allowed?

I have real doubts about it. No humans were killed of course in "Blue is the warmes colour". But maybe the mind can be killed too? Probably these girls won't choose to act in another movie from now on.

Without the scenes of hardcore porn in the movie, it would be a very nice and tender movie.

I think if one rewrites the film without sex ...that would be another movie

If I should have time,
I would try deleting the scenes porn of the movie and upload it to the internet.

What would happen?
