Saw Sherdil last night. I didn't think I was going to like it at first, it seemed rather lame for the first 10 minutes or so, but then it perked up and became really rather enjoyable. Good family adventure movie, and, needless to say, Rebecka is adorable throughout. Unfortunately, that means I've seen everything she ever did now, which makes Ian an unhappy panda.

I did have to chuckle, mind, at the young soldier who was helping her, and clearly rather fancied her, finding out that her character was only 14. And his reaction:

"S*** f***!"

Yes, that would have been my reaction too.

Agreed.
The sort of thing you might find on commercial TV at about 9:30 on a Saturday morning so that all the kids can be kept occupied. But then Rebecka just adds a whole new world of charm and talent and in my view makes a run of the mill kids film into something a bit special.

The merest suspicion that even the hint of an idea that such a thought might hover about the fringes of your mind I find incredulous.

(What did he say???)

Dug out an old favourite I had on tape and watched Being John Malkovich again.

What an absolute classic. Love the idea of the 7 1/2 floor only being 5 feet high, and the portal. Everyone should have their own portal. :D ^O^

Yay ! Bought "Kamikaze Girls'' and watched today. :D It was a really fun film, quite unusual. I liked the hacked about narrative style including asides to camera which were really funny and reminded me of the style of ''Amelie''. The actors were spot-on and looked as if they were enjoying making the film. Interesting overlaps in some themes with FA/SML, the attraction of very different types, issues about conformity and rebellion.

Thanks for the recommendation fish! I owe you one

It nice to get one right occasionally, but I was pretty confident with this one. (searches for emoticon for "smug". settles for) :D

Last nite I watched Hannah Med h. Tove was quite good in that film! And no, I'm not talking about the nude scenes, lol. Although they were good too. I recommend this film to anyone who loves Swedish cinema.

Japanese Ian.
The subtitles on my copy are great too, (although unlike Swedish, its a bit more difficult to pick out obvious stuffups, but I doubt that there are too many.)
Highly recommended. ^O^

...Hannah Med h.... Tove...the nude scenes
:)P
At the risk of upsetting my delicate sensibilities my interest has been piqued and I might have to investigate this further.
Thanks Kyle.

What's it about, Kyle (other than seeing Tove in the nude, of course) ? Is it available on dvd?

I'll have a look for KG next time I venture into JB HI-FI.

Delved into the archives and found Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind to watch earlier. Just love that movie. Jim Carrey's best role probably ever. And Kate Winslet as she's never been seen before.

This is definitely one of my favourites.
