Au septieme jour on Vimeo - plays like a vimeo dog, and rather depressing, but another glimpse of la Aquart, which is obviously A Good Thing;

You're right Dave, a very depressing short film.
But seeing Pauline was nice.

There's another one on Vimeo too, put there in 2011 so pretty new, and a bit more upbeat than the first one.
Shows in the list as Indress and also Coconut Grove, but it's the same film.
Just under 14mins, French with English subs.

Fab! I missed that one.

Ms. Aquart projects something very familiar to me but hard to put into words...anybody care to try?

I think the naturalness of her performance came over. She never looked 'as if' she was acting. The story of her recruitment is one of those chance in a million things. Louise had already been cast via an advertisment in a Stage magazine. Adele had previous acting experience in film. Celine Sciamma and the producers were finding it difficult to agree on casting for the lead role. Celine was quite insistent that all the leads must be 15 years old, the same as the film characters. They were having one of their involved discussions walking around a park in Paris. Celine pointed out a girl in a group, playing around. 'I want Marie to look like her, that girl over there.' 'Why don't we go ask her then?'

After sorting out the preliminaries and getting parental agreement, Pauline was cast for the part.

You can get a strong feeling for the chemistry by watching the short clip of the casting session, which appears on the DVD. Pauline and Adele were told to do a totally improvised acting sketch on the theme of 'sharing a secret'. The result is absolute confirmation of their ability to ad lib, and yet perform in sync. It all comes over as very natural.

Yes, 'natural', 'real', 'believable' are all good keywords [as indeed they are for Bex/Alex, come to think of it].

Hmm...awkward, cool, intense, defiant, passionate, wounded, shy...I'm still not quite getting to it...

Seeing her more grown-up [and filled out!] in that Moriarty vid was quite something. She evidently wasn't having to act too hard to play Marie; it practically WAS Marie, in uniform, a few years on.

The 'actress' character, in the latest one, was a very different persona though. Which is good.

Can't seem to find "Le chant des sirènes (short film) 2009" anywhere though, French TV distrib only, maybe?

Bugger, if so...

Just got pipped on evilBay [aka feeBay] for a copy of Naissance...double bugger!

Hurrah! No need for a looking-over-spectacles icon, after all.

Makes it even worse not having the film, though.

Pauline, she break-a your heart. Can't wait to see her next major work.
