I streamlined my collection last year, putting everything into multi-disc sets and going by decade and then year by year rather than alphabetical order (which made things easy to find but always looked a bit daft to me, with 70s movies sitting side by side with new releases). There's still been something bugging me, though, and there was this YT video that made me realise what it was. There was a vid with some guy giving his top 10 films of 2013, but he was including ones a few years old that he just happened to have seen in 2013. And as strange as that might seem to some, it actually made sense to me. And I've adjusted my collection accordingly. Mostly still the same, but some things that have always bugged me a little have changed. For instance, Show Me Love, out in 1998 in Sweden, but not till 2000 here and I didn't see it till 2001; it's now in 2001. Likewise, Bear's Kiss and Froken Sverige, out in 2001 and 2004 but I didn't see till 2008. The most extreme example is probably the excellent Ghostwatch, which was made and shown in 1992 in the UK but I didn't get to see it till 2007. I had it in with the other 92 films and it just looked weird to me. I know the release date order thing makes technical sense, but it didn't make emotional sense. And I think I'm going to go with the latter from now on.

That was a very long post. Not to mention very anal. :T

So alphabetically by year of viewing, then? Furry muff.

There's nothing wrong with long[ish] posts!

But I thought 'emotional' was better unconflated with 'anal', personally... :P

It's a silly, schoolboyish play-on-words for 'fair enough'... ...hey, no-one ever said age was necessarily equal to maturity!

OBVIOUSLY it's a reference to the winter handwarmer one so seldom sees nowadays... :| O-)

The street main for our block blew yesterday, and I ended up drinking vodka and lemonade with my young neighbour across the hall by candlelight while it was repaired, then swapping videos. Quite the wartime spirit! Curious to see what he makes of LTROI or Water Lilies... 8)

I like the upside to situations like that, how it brings people together.

I should just jolly well think so too... O-)

Weather has indeed been a bit EotW-ish here recently, big winds and heavy rain; but Manc has so far been spared flooding, unlike many coastal and low-lying areas. Needless to say, the insurers are all like, 'Act of God, sorry, computer says no...'

Nothing worse then when Mother Nature's bad side kicks in. *:|*

Hope it clears up for you soon enough.
