LOL It'll get a bit closer to "megabucks" (a bit) if it actually gets made, according to the contract I signed I'll be entitled to "additional compensation" (in the thousands). At the mo' it's just a small fee. It's the very idea of it that's bemusing me. :?: :!:

EDIT: You don't suppose Alex will need a script editor on her next short film or something, do you? :D

Seeing that she stayed with you a week or so back, when she was running away from Theodor, you should have put it to her then.Image

Oh, you did.

No. I meant about the script editing. :P

New dvd recorder turned up today. Mostly happy so far (though they didn't include the remote batteries and it doesn't appear to have an AV channel (despite having AV sockets), which is... bizarre). However, while I haven't tried taping anything yet, it plays Flick'd DVDs without the slightest argument, is multi-region, plays MPEGs (despite not even being billed as doing so) and even plays those damn The Bill dvds that my other two refuse to. Will try recording something tomorrow, but looking pretty good so far. :D

;)

Two dvds (Cat's Ete and Sliding Doors) that wouldn't play on any of the other 3 players (incl the now defunct recorder) both play fine on the new one. :D Going to have to try that last Sapphire & Steel disc too.

Doing a trial recording now. Fingers crossed. So far, I'm VERY impressed, esp for the price.

What brand is your new player?

And re discs that won't play on certain players, have you tried to rip them to your computer and burn new copies of them?

This is usually a pretty sure way of saving the image file/movie from faulty or damaged discs

In other words the problem is most of the time not the player or the movie but the dvd disc itself

It's an IKON. The irony I've found is that sometimes the cheaper ones are less prone to be argumentative than the fancy expensive ones!

No, I haven't tried that. Is it really likely to work if the dvd is genuinely damaged?

It's worked a few times for me with discs that play badly or don't play at all

I've used dvd shrink to rip the film and create a new iso file that you then burn to a fresh dvd-r disc

Do you have dvd shrink? It's a free program that you can download

No, I haven't. Cheers for that (though this new player seems to play anything at the moment!). :D
