1 Show Me Love

(Look, I don't give a ****. It didn't come out in Australia til 2000/01. So I'm counting it. It would be bloody ridiculous not to :P  )

2 Let the Right One In

Swedish films for the win! Haunting, atmospheric and beautiful.

3 The Royal Tenenbaums

Just wonderfully odd and funny.

4 Inglourious Basterds

QT finally matches Pulp Fiction.

5 The Mist

Best Hollywood horror of the decade.

6 REC

Brilliant Spanish zombie horror.

7 Serendipity

Best Hollywood romcom of the decade. Funny, sweet and genuinely romantic.

8 Shaun of the Dead

9 Hot Fuzz

The last two both British humour at its best.

10 D.E.B.S

Goofy as all hell but incredibly charming.

In order to keep this to ten I've left out some really good films like
Pride and Predjudice (2005)
Big Fish (2003)
Mammoth (2009)
even
Being John Malkovich which was released at the end of Dec 1999 and therefore by Ian's logic could be included. :T :P

I've also left out "made for TV" shows like Tipping the Velvet and Fingersmith which are brilliant.

And still I've not covered a fraction of my favourites. Anyway, here's ten....(no particular order)
Cold Mountain (2003)
Let the Right One In (2008)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
Lost In Translation (2003)
Nine Queens (2000)
The Shipping News (2001)
Amérlie (2001)
Four Last Songs (2007)
Proof (2005)
Phoebe in Wonderland (2008)

There ya go then.Image

If it was released in Oz in 1999, it would be a 90s movie in Australia. If it didn't come here till 2000, it's 00s. It's like saying you can't call LTROI (one of) the best film(s) of 2009, just because some other countries got it in 2008. Who cares? We didn't, so it's irrelevant. Show Me Love is an 00s film in this territory, which, given it's the one we live in, is the only one that counts. :r :T :P :W

I completely agree.
I concede defeat.
I offer abject and humble apologies.

Still won't stop me stirring when given half a chance. :P

(And don't think I've forgotten "ilke". I'm saving that one for another day. :P )

On the basis of the same loony logic I'm including some films made in 1999 cos I didn't get to see them legally till later on:

1. Fucking Amal
2. Water Lilies
3. Ginger Snaps
4. Let the Right One In
5. Girl Interrupted
6. Thirteen
7. Amelie
8. Lilya 4 Ever
9. Baise Moi
10. XXY
