Just random stuff with nothing much to do with anything

:)P

You can download imgburn for free. I'm also using Clone 2 (on trial, you have to pay for it eventually :( ) as imgburn is refusing to do it for some of my dvds (I suspect it's got something to do with having "finalised" the disc on my old recorder). :D

Can't you "unfinalise" your DVD's?
Or to you need the same recorder?
How about a different one but the same brand?

My current one doesn't even have the option TO "finalise" (and they play alright on every other player without, so what the need for it was in the first place I've no idea), let alone take it off. As for same brand... no idea, this one's completely different given that I was rather unimpressed with the last one conking out after less than 2 years. :T

I think, (sorry for the oxymoron) , the theory is that if you don't "finalise" the disc you can only play it on the same (brand?) recorder/player, but once "finalised" you can play it on any.

Your recorder sounds like it's from Gallifrey or somewhere. :P

I think it's yet more proof of my theory that the cheaper the player/recorder and the less "brand name" it is, the better it is! Multi-region, NTSC compatible, plays mpegs, none of this finalising crap... for about $80. I couldn't get that for $500 from the brand names when I was looking around for a new one. :T

Forget I spoke, the copying software don't work, man. Spent all afternoon peeing about and it still didn't do it right. Might as well have taped the thing player-to-recorder.

Still, I did at least get to watch Cody play strip poker with the lads (don't get any ideas - she won!), so the afternoon wasn't a total loss. It's the way she whips out her spectacles as they prepare to drop their shorts that slays me every time.

DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter are two great free programs for ripping dvds or dvd-r's to your computer

And I use imgburn for burning dvd-r discs

If you have any questions, go ahead

What kind of discs do you copy, though? Official ones or recordable ones?

Cheers, Magnus. :D

I'm still unconvinced, mind, after Sunday's debacle.
