"Why must not Death be redefined?" - Patti Smith
The fear of Eternal Death, of annihilation, is the root of all fears; it's also the root of all political coercion and oppression ["Power starts at the barrel of a gun" - Mao]. Do as you're told or we'll kill you, is always the bottom line.
But what if Death is coming home, to the Happy Lands where there is no pain or fear? The most cursory sampling of the ever-growing Near Death Experience {NDE] literature paints a very coherent, and very different picture of 'the afterlife' than the nothingness that 'Science' offers, or the heaven/hell bullshit purveyed by the churches.
Obviously we miss our loved ones. But hey, it does begin to look like they might be a great deal better off than we ever imagined.
RIP Starman! Enjoy the break.
