Postby ahlberg » Sun Mar 05, 2006 12:36 am

I've recently downloaded a song on Alexandra.Dahlstrom.com. The song is called "tuna" and it's by the Bear Quartet, spoken by Alexandra. The song is of course swedish. Can anyone translate the song PLEASE!.

Where have you been? Where do you go?
Not that it would matter somehow
but it would be nice if you want
that I follow
It's a nice day.

Some pensioners are standing and talking outside the supermarkets
and the traffic is passing by as it should
Taxi drivers are going to a café and road workers to another one.

He who looks like an idiot and knows about it, buys condoms
People can believe what they want
It's a nice day.

There are people lying on the beach and in the water
neither the police nor the emergency had to turn out to anything serious.

At the lunch have some already drunken too much and are getting taken home before they manage to make a swimming competition
The brakes are whacked and are not going to work.

When dad reminded you that he said for the one hundredth time that you have to give a notice if you leave the garden he didn't know if it was really the one hundredth time he said that.
Unique isn't that stupid unique 'cause everything is unique, says mum.

Well-dressed they are sitting and eating a pizza in the grass next to the park
their life is a Finnish tango but it used to be punk-rock.

a homeless has fallen asleep in the ditch
a girl is cycling for the first time without carrying wheels
The brakes are whacked and are not going to work.

Someone is beating his brother on the head with a stick and enough weight but little force to not harm his skull
It's a nice day.

Those who are compensating their ugliness with personality are now seen not only as being ugly but also as strange, they're sitting and listening to records
a family waits to be evicted
within a clique one is coming out with his/her homosexuality.

the newly laid asphalt and the freshly cut grass are lying there and smelling good
municipal places are being visited well and that's good for the the municipality
one can hear how they are jumping over the roofs.

The sun is getting reflected in the window which is getting opened and closed
The woman who lived at the top stopped feeling being near to her children several years before she died
her son raised in weight and got breasts
the oldest daughter always said that she stood outside.

the people are almost wearing nothing
the people are outside, talking in the streets and at the crossings.

a girl has to finish with a boy who believes that they are together
the hands are seeking inside the bra
It's a nice day.

but when she yells after him she said the wrong name and everything went bad

The brakes are whacked and are not going to work.

*goes to listen to the song*

Mmmh, the spoken text sounds tacked on. I understand they couldn't make the music louder because you wouldn't understand what she's saying then. But as it is, you obviously hear two separate studio tracks.
I think someone should add some ambience sounds like street noises, kids laughing, etc.
It could give the feeling that Alexandra really is walking down a street and we hear her thoughts commenting the scenery.
Anyway, it's great to hear her voice. And many thanks for the translation!

When was this song released?

Many thanks for the translation!!!!. The lyrics are somewhat strange. The song was released a while ago, 2002. It's in the album Ny Vag.

I don't think the lyrics are too strange. If you look at Pennylane by the famous Beatles, that's quite similar.
Just someone witnessing different situations, maybe while taking a walk, and thinking about some things. But mostly it's about impressions, the small things, that life consists of.
