Computer's been getting slower and slower, freezing all the time the last few weeks. Tried everything, literal cleaning, Disk Cleanup, defragging, deleting files... nothing worked. And today it was just f****d. :T

In other words, spent all afternoon setting up a new computer. Such fun. :T

I know what that is, I've had to do it sometimes, after fighting with the computer .. It's a losing battle.

Bushfires in Australia - again - still.

Several new bushfires are burning in SE Queensland, with one (at last report) in central Western Australia, and around 70 in New South Wales along the coast between Sydney and Brisbane (QLD) are still uncontrolled.
Two deaths have been reported in NSW along with several people missing and large numbers injured.
At least 100 homes have been destroyed.

Very much so.
Last I heard the death toll is now 3.
At least 150 houses destroyed in NSW.
The Queensland fires have intensified with one near Noosa on the Sunshine Coast declared "out of control".

Seems things will get much worse before they get any better. *:|*

The news is changing rapidly.
As I understand it, the West Australian fire is now under control but if the winds pick up it could again get out of hand.
A stubble fire has broken out near the town of Port Lincoln in South Australia but is expected to be brought under control by nightfall today.
The Queensland fires have increased in areas from Brisbane in the south to Townsville in the far north. (I hope Ian's OK)
The New South Wales fires are at their peak today with adverse weather conditions and exhausted crews are working 'round the clock to try and contain them.
I have no later information about fatalities or further loss of property.
Fire warnings in areas along the east coast of Australia have been raised from "extreme" to "catastrophic".

I'm hoping for better news as the day progresses. *:|*

The place was OK until you arrived. :P

Did you notice on the news that last Sunday, for the first time in recorded history, no rain fell in Australia?
Anywhere.
For the whole day.
Not a single drop.
A whole continent as big as Australia, and nothing.

How dry is it again? :r :T

Imageshack still hasn't sent me a useful reply yet, but I think I've just fluked access to all my pics.
So, I'll press on until they fuck it up again and then I'll bail on them. :x

I know it was probably all my own fault, but it still would have been nice to communicate with an actual person.
