Finding out the recent 2008 Jonathan Creek Xmas Special is coming out on dvd here in November. Which probably means it'll be on the ABC before then. Love that show, and I was beginning to wonder if we were ever going to see the latest one over here, so YAY!

Now this is really a case of a slow postal service.
Didn't you order this when it was a new release? :P

I'll have to go Ebay shopping again soon so I can stop picking on your buys.

It was a bit odd. It's a US dvd but it came from New Zealand. Even more oddly, it actually had the cheek to flash up a "This dvd is not coded for your region" (with a 20th Century Fox logo on the statement) message when I put it in my multi-region player, which then... er... played it anyway. As it should. I've never seen that before.

Weird. :T

Know what you mean.
I bought a cd from the US which came with a Kentucky return address and an Auckland postage label. :?
Then again I bought a dvd from New Zealand which had a Hong Kong postage label. :T

I shouldn't, but... the latest Doctor Who Magazine features the result of a massive poll to get the all-time most loved stories as voted by fans. Given the preponderance of new series fans (and many older fans feeling that some of them don't appreciate the old series) many feared that the result would be horrifically biased in favour of the newer stuff. So the no. 1 all time favourite voted for was in fact...

... a 1984 Peter Davison story.

Result!

(Sorry, that was my shameless geek moment for the day. I'll stop now.)

What made me smile?
The sharp increase in both the quality and quantity of straight lines that Ian's throwing out there for us to use.

Like classic 1950s pulp fiction, The Big Book of Lesbian Horse Stories depicts forbidden same-sex love and all its titillating temptation. Eight stories are set in different periods of history, from the Stonewall Riots to Dustbowl Depression. Each involves a girl, a horse and womanly attraction. Clearly a spoof on the pulp genre, with racy cover art and the enticing line, "When these Sapphic sisters saddle up, ecstasy if only a hoofbeat away!" This book promises to be a sexy romp around the stable. Unfortunately, the writing inside is not nearly as clever as the cover. It's a fun read, but would have been better with more camp.

An ideal Xmas present for your maiden aunt
