Q. Why would anyone want to live in outback Australia?
A. This is the homestead of Tolarno Station at Menindee Lakes on the Darling River in far west New South Wales.
The Darling River is part of the Murray-Darling river system which is currently under dire stress due to a combination of drought and over extraction by industrial scale irrigation upstream.
This over use of the water has been brought about by the criminal actions of sections of the State and Federal governments in combination with unregulated water harvesting by the large irrigators.
Recent mass fish kills are a symptom of what's going on.
This section of the largest river system in Australia has been reduced to a few toxic pools.
Please keep an eye on it with me.
Oh!
Did I mention we have very little light pollution at night and we can actually see the stars?
