My brand new British passport arrived today.

Have to say that went shockingly quickly. It said it could be 10 weeks or over for my application to be approved when they got my documents. 3 and a half weeks later and I've got my new one.

Awesome. Been over 20 years since my last one expired. I am considering my options...

I am British (English). I came to Aussieland at 16. I am now... older.
I am contemplating a move back home since my Mum passed away and I'm now stuck up here basically all on my lonesome. I'm a Yorkshireman, dammit!

I think that more than once I have commented on the bad concept I have of how the English treat foreigners, especially people from London.

When we get older and we are left alone we feel safe where we were born and grew up.
The same thing happens to me. I want to go back to the town where I was born.

Yeah, it's very true. I just feel a yearning for home now.

Do you still have ties?
It's important to keep a thread with your origin because if not, when you go back everything has changed, including the people you knew.

I've never been back, though I still keep in touch with several friends and a number of relatives. I know it won't be the same, but I need a change anyway and it seems as good a one as any.

[Santi]

You are very lucky.
Once a year I go to my town and there are no friends left, they all left as well as me.
There is little family, but I have made new friends.
