You know the authorities of the town of Åmål was a bit pissed off at the filmmakers before FÅ premiered

They only heard about the title of the film and thought Åmål would be presented in an extremely bad way

The sign that says 'welcome to Åmål' that you can see when the girls try to hitch-hike to Stockholm was constructed by the movie company, the town of Åmål wouldn't lend them one

When the film came out they were happy, they got a lot of PR through the film

Anyway, one of the reasons Moodysson chose Åmål I think was because the name sounds really unglamorous in Swedish

It's probably a pretty normal sleepy small town in the swedish countryside, no more no less

Shouldn't that be Ådelåide? :Y :N :Z

03:45 Tuesday. The place is dead. Completely and absolutely without life.
Åmål is pretty quiet too. :P

I understand that after the success of the film the good people of Åmål even had some sort of annual festival to bring in the tourist dollars and to celebrate FÅ. Is it true? (är det sant?......is this how it's written?)

Yes that's the right pronounciation, sounds depressing doesn't it? *:|*

I think they had some kind of town festival or something that they called 'Fucking Åmål' , but I don't think it had anything to do with the film per se

'är det sant' is correct

21.38 PM
Cold, dark, raining.
Two cars go slowly across the river. Nobody on foot.
Not the best moment to have a look at Åmal, but I guess winter will be even more cold, dark and lonely on the bridge. :N

It's too damn hot here, au contraire. I wonder when autumn will begin seriously. 50 dead caused by rains in Sicily (that's near Africa, folks) but it's stifly hot in my city.

It's been uncommonly warm here again today. Temp back up at 20C+ Not usual for October. Plus no rain, only a few spots yesterday and this morning thats over 30 days now with no real wet stuff. 8)

11:30 Thursday.
What happened to the flags? Where did they go?

I am so cold here, only got to around 16C or so in Ådelåide today. Much prefer it about 10 degrees hotter than this.
Suns's shining in Åmål, looks positively warm until you see people wearing thick jackets. brrrr.

shock  horror! Maybe they took the flags down for dry cleaning?

Have you ever noticed despite how many hours you spend viewing the webcam, that you never see a police car, ambulance , or fire engine? I imagine Heaven must be a bit like Amal. Freakin' boring :Z

BRING BACK THE FLAGS! BRING BACK THE FLAGS! They have more life in them than the rest of Amal put together. Perhaps they declared war on Uganda? :?

03:30 Thurs.
Thought I saw an unruly mob protesting the lack of flags, but it was only the dolphins massing for an escape to the river. :T

Maybe the banners are just being sheltered from the bad weather.

Wouldn't that just be perfect.
The town buys flags which can't be used outdoors 'cause they fall to bits in the rain.

Shouldn't they then be called flågs? :P
