Fleeing in terror?????

Postby fish » Tue Jun 30, 2009 12:28 pm

No, I'm not going to let Snaps' and Ian's psycho blood lust make me run away, but, I will be absent for around ten days from this Saturday (July 4th).

The reason you will be left in peace is that I'm taking my son on a trip through outback Australia from here to Darwin, mostly by car. That's around 3,000 kms from the cold in the south to the tropical north.

If I find a PC on the way I might drop in to annoy you, but failing that I should be back on about the 13th.

Play nice while I'm gone. :W

Have a good trip. Don't eat any roadkill! Don't give any lifts to stray sheep who may be thumbing down a ride. Keep one eye open for the creatures of the night :P

But July 4th is ages away.

UK is having a mini-heatwave atm. I'm stretched out on a sunlounger 8) . You should pop over here and look me up  have a Pimms and lemonade. I'll mash up some ice chunks ready. Now where did I leave that ice-pick?

Three and a bit days. I'm beside myself with excitement. Look, there I am, *:)* and here too. *:)*

You know I was hoping just some warmer weather would fix that sharp stabbing pain I have just to the left of my spine.

Poor dear. :( When you live in this place you get used to staying out of the sun.

I had a quick look at the tennis at Wombledon last night and there seemed to be all sorts of beautiful people taking lots of clothes off. No wonder you too need a cold shower. :P

OK. That was a year ago.
This is just a bit of advance warning.
In three weeks time, from July 13 to July 23, I'm running away again, but not to the tropics, this time I'm heading for the snow country in Tasmania. Usual crew, my son, my brother and me.

Here's a bit of a travelogue of what's what.
This is where we are in the world.

Our bit is in the middle at the bottom

Just by the right hand crinkly bit.

A bit of the Adelaide CBD.

This is where we're going.

Cradle Mountain, one of the places we're staying.

What I'll be like if you're mean to me while I'm away.

If you're really mean I'll post my holiday pics.

Being a European in the far northern corners of the world, Tasmania is the sort of place your mother would tell you scary stories about when your a kid

But I suppose a solid, strong australian like yourself would have nothing to fear :P

Enjoy what I'm sure is a well-earned vacation!

I remember my mother doing the same. "C'mon finsh those bloody sprouts or we'll send you to Tasmania."
Ah, happy days.

Seriously, it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. (My fourth trip there.)

Two weeks today and I'm off, errr, so to speak.

I guess by this stage everyone's put in for my bon-voyage gift.
You know what I'll be like if you haven't. :P

Only one week to go now and the Alex MV is where?

I'd love to find one of these guys while I'm away.

Thylacine, aka Tasmanian Tiger.
Extinct on the mainland for around 12,000 years when the dingo was introduced.
Unfortunately also extinct in Tas since the 1930's when farmers whiped them out.
Not a dog, more closely related to the Kangaroo.
Most definitely a carnivor, and yes, their jaws did open that wide.

Don't know what brought them to mind. :?: :T
