Fanny and Alexander Criterion box set. I was a little apprehensive paying about $70 for this from the states, but the box set is the most beautiful I've ever seen. I'd pay in excess of $100 now that I know what I'm getting. It includes the 3 hour theatrical cut, 5 hour original cut, feature length making of, interviews, essays... gah! This is Bergman's crown jewel! Such an extraordinary film.
It's a bit of an each way bet, but, if you were willing to pay Fox ( ) a bunch of $$$$ you probably wouldn't need to buy the DVD's. I'm pretty sure that a some of those you bought recently are showing on pay tv.
But then again, I bought Sugar Rush while it was still showing on Fox, so what the hell would I know?
At least you get to own it and can watch it whenever you like, eh?
Been putting off watching the last episode of "The Amazing Mrs Pritchard" but finally watched it today. What a brilliant series. Laughter, tears, all it needed was a good song and dance and it would have had everything.
Definitely three thumbs up.
The reason I watched it today was that the next instalment in the Jodhi May project arrived. Daniel Deronda.
Can't imagine it's anywhere near the standard of TAMP, but you never know. And Jodhi is in it.
