Mammoth DVD/ Blu-ray release July 22

Postby oeb » Mon May 18, 2009 11:54 pm

Mammoth will be released on DVD and Blu-ray July 22. The Blu-ray will feature 1080p picture resolution and Dolby TrueHD lossless audio. Nordic subtitles are included for both releases, unfortunately not English for the parts in Thai/ Tagalog. The main spoken language is English though. Specifications are subject to change. Pre-order now!

Thanks for the info oeb, much appreciated. A quick restructuring of my fiscal policies should enable an order soon. (Translation...I'll start saving right away.)

Any word on Alexandra's new film Mañana?

No release date is set for Mañana, but it should be announced soon.

I am a bit troubled with this dvd purchase which is not usual for me.

I'm concerned that the Thai/Tagalog parts may be crucial to understanding the film or may be significant enough so that without subtitles a single language person like me misses out on vital parts of the movie.

I know we have several members who have seen Mammoth already so I would appreciate it if they could give their opinion on my concerns.
For what sort of time period is Thai/Tagalog used?
Are significant plot elements revealed in these languages?
Would I still understand the film without understanding these parts?

:Y :N

The updated specifications actually lists English subtitles as well, so this will hopefully not be a problem at all. I'd advice to wait until a bit closer to the release date so this can be confirmed from more sources.

The part in Thai is minor, but Tagalog is spoken over a longer time period.

Thanks or that advice oeb.
I'll wait until closer to the release date when the actual setup of the disc is better known.

The specifications are now confirmed: Nordic subtitles and English subtitles for the parts in Thai/ Tagalog are included. The Blu-ray will include DTS HD lossless audio (not Dolby TrueHD as announced earlier).

The DVD and Blu-ray is now in stock ready to ship. Btw. the DVD comes with a cardboard sleeve (like all Memfis Film releases), so only the sleeve is white - the actual DVD cover is identical to the Blu-ray cover (which looks much better IMHO).
